Shoppers flocked downtown for Nottingham’s first market in the Square since Christmas.
This year’s International Market has brought a variety of food stalls and more businesses to the heart of Nottingham.
The stands were installed on Thursday and will be in operation until Sunday evening (July 11th).
Traders across the country said they waited to go back to their favorite city and see their regular customers.
Stall owner Samson Jeramie, 48, who owns a traditional churros shop, said, “I’ve missed it so much, it’s great to be back.
“It’s great to see people enjoying my food.”
Born in France, Jeramie added: “My recipes have been passed down through the generations.
“We want to travel the country again – I’ll be in Sheffield next week.”
Aaron Watson, owner of Gourmet Burgers, 49, said, “We travel all over the country.
“We had to recover somehow after the pandemic – it was a difficult year.
“Precisely because we didn’t get any answers, we were on vacation and didn’t know what would happen to our business.”
Speaking about what he thinks of Nottingham, Mr Watson added: “We love Nottingham, the community here is fantastic.
“It’s one of my favorite cities – the people are nice.”
Tomasz Fatyga, 40, owns the Polish fast food stand Heavenly Sausages and said: “We were so excited to come back to the markets – that’s what we love to do.
“It’s great to be with people and prepare food that they like.”
Mr. Fatyga wants to pass on his culinary passion by combining traditional with fast food.
He added: “We try to make our traditional food accessible to everyone.
“The dumplings, our traditional sausages – we tried to make them fast food so that everyone could enjoy them.”
Although the food stalls are predominant, shoppers also have access to an array of handcrafted items and flowers.
Monique Nybger, 57, owns her own Dutch garden center in Hartlepool and did not miss the opportunity to showcase her flowers at the market.

She added: “Nottingham has a special place in our hearts.
“We missed it during the pandemic.
“You can do business without traveling, but there is something about the markets that makes you do it.”
A city council spokesman said: “We are very pleased to welcome the international market back to the Old Market after a long pause due to the Covid restrictions.
“It’s great that smaller events like this are happening now and can bring people back to town, which is a boost for companies that have been going through a really difficult time.

“The market is always popular and the demand for stands has been high, so we expect it to be a great event over the weekend.
